About me!

waiting to be played

My name's Tim Andersson. I'm a sound engineer based in London, England. I specialise mostly in record and mix engineering, and music production. I co-own and co-run The Beans Shed, a recording studio in Romford, in the London Borough of Havering.

Over the past two years I've found myself in many different studio environments, working on multiple releases, and expanding my knowledge and ability in the production process as much as I can. Going from producing demos in my bedroom on a high school musical microphone, to assisting experienced producers at professional studios, to working freelance on a dry hire basis out of other studios to now owning my own, I can truly say every step of this journey has taught me so much.

When I make a record with a band/artist, my biggest aim is always to make sure every single part of the recording/mixing process is tailor made to suit the release at hand. A few weeks ago in a lecture, I wrote "
THINGS ONLY SOUND BAD IN THE WRONG CONTEXT" in my lecture notes (the reason the quote is large, red, bold and underlined is because that's how I wrote it in my notes). Whilst it may be a quote lacking that of any technical expertise, insight or even be that informative, I now consider it a great ethos to record music by, and carry it into every session with me. There are no rules to recording, and I feel that having a less strict ethos towards recording is rewarding me in the sonic diversity I relish in.

I'm currently studying for a BSc degree in Applied Sound Engineering at the University of West London/London College of Music. I love my course, and it has spoon fed me all of my skills that I have as an engineer and producer, with a big sound engineering ladle.
